Lava lamps were invented in 1963 by Edward Craven Walker by heating up wax in water.  When the wax is heated, it rises in blobs.  As it gets to the top of the lamp, it cools and drops down to the bottom of the lamp where it will warm up again.  Follow Children's Museum Houston geek, John, as he explores density and shows you how to make your own lava lamp using materials found in your home.
