Curated by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, this exhibit features more than fifty pieces of artwork of award-winning Mexican American children’s book author and illustrator, Rafael López. López is known for his vibrant, evocative work that blends traditional Mexican art with contemporary elements that often highlight cultural diversity, social justice, and community. In addition to the original illustrations, the exhibit features a community mural, Cultivating Dreams: A Collective Canvas, as well as an opportunity to design your own bookmark inspired by the work
Along with viewing Rafael’s award-winning illustrations and community art mural, the exhibit also features hardcover editions of many of his well-loved books for families to read and share together. Visitors can also design their own bookmark inspired by Rafael’s community art mural.
