More than 120 golfers put their swings to the test for a good cause, raising $207,000 for the Museum’s programs at the Randy Allen Spring Golf Classic. The Florida-style scramble was held on April 19th at Memorial Park Golf Course, which was recently redesigned by the world-renowned golf architect Tom Doak. Golfers enjoyed lunch, a hole-in-one challenge for a Lexus, and an evening happy hour on a near-perfect day with temperatures in the mid-70s.
The event honored one of CMH’s heroes, Randy Allen, who led the Museum for twenty-five years as a member of its Executive Committee, Board and Advisory Board. The Tournament was chaired by Allen family members Laurie Allen, Eddie Allen and Wilson Allen.
Geoff Leach, Willy Taveras, Thom Brandt, and Trey Wilkinson had the best day on the green, with their team earning first place overall. But every player, regardless of how many bogies and slices, was a winner for Houston’s children. The Randy Allen Spring Golf Classic supports the Museum’s educational programming presented at schools, libraries, and community centers throughout the Greater Houston area. Thanks to the support of events such as the Golf Classic, CMH’s outreach programs are always free for families.
