Rube Goldberg Exhibit Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

October 10, 2025

Nationally acclaimed exhibit launches in Houston with wacky ribbon cutting ceremony

Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.

Sponsored by Oxy and The William Stamps Farish Fund

WHAT:

Why use scissors when you can use a machine? Get ready for a ribbon cutting that’s anything but simple! Children’s Museum Houston will celebrate the grand opening of Rube Goldberg™: The World of Hilarious Invention! exhibit with a life-sized Rube Goldberg machine designed to snip the ceremonial ribbon in the most wonderfully overcomplicated way possible.

Join us as we pull levers, roll balls, crank gears, and set chaos in motion—because around here, we don’t just cut ribbons, we overengineer them!

WHY:

Created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in partnership with the Heirs of Rube Goldberg, Rube Goldberg™: The World of Hilarious Invention! celebrates the cartoonist who turned everyday tasks into comedy gold through delightfully over-the-top contraptions. The exhibit invites you to get hands-on with chain reactions, draw your own silly inventions, play with a musical machine, and even step into Rube’s “Self-Operating Napkin”® for a photo op.

VISUALS:

A chain-reaction attraction guaranteed to spark laughs, curiosity, and maybe even a few spectacular misfires (in true Rube fashion).
