HOUSTON (Oct. 2, 2023) – Boo!  Something spooky this way comes to “Children’s Boo!seum Houston!”  A myriad of enchantment and mystery have maneuvered their way into Children’s Museum Houston to magically transform it into the Children’s Boo!seum Houston for three weeks of Halloween! Come partake in spine-tingling experiments, spirit-lifting activities and slime-filled fun from Oct. 10 to 31, 2023 (Closed Mondays).   Meander your way through the Museum in search of ghosts, goodies and goo!

 

TRICK-OR-TREAT:  Set out on a safe trick-or-treat quest…

  • From 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.
  • From 5 to 8 p.m. during Free Family Night Thursday.
  • All day on Saturday and Sunday through Halloween night!

PARTY: Move your bones to funky tunes at our “Bad to the Bone” Happy Halloween Bash open till 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.31.

GET CREATIVE:  Join these wicked workshops ($5 registration fee ea.)…

  • Design spooktacular Halloween costume pieces during a wicked workshop on Oct. 14 in Chevron Maker Lab.
  • Spooky Animatronics:  It may take more than five nights to put back together or take apart unnerving animatronics on Oct. 21 at Chevron Maker Lab.  

MAKE SLIME: Ooze in amazement…

  • Zombie Brain Slime: Go gaga for goo as you probe zombie brain slime from Oct. 17 to 31 in Power Science Lab.
  • Oobleck: Ooey, gooey!  Non-Newtonian fluid’s a bit screwy.  Explore it from Oct. 16 to 22 at Science Station.

EXPERIMENT WITH SCIENCE:  Test mystery blood and ID its type from Oct.10 to 15 in Power Science Lab.

IT’S HALLOWEEN SHOWTIME!

Saturday, Oct. 14, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

  • Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice:  DJ Beetlejuice will get the Halloween party started.  Come on out and shake your bones during a Beetlejuice-inspired party, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Kid’s Hall Alcove.
  • Hocus Pocus:  Brew a concoction of Hocus Pocus when the “Sanderson Sisters” join us for a meet-and-greet, from 12:30 to 30:30 p.m. and story times at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
  • Paint-a-Pumpkin:  Get your creative juices flowing by decorating pumpkins during our wicked workshop at11:30 a.m., 12:30, 3, 4, and 5 p.m. in Alexander Art Academy.

 

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY

Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sneak the sunrise past a rooster.  You’re invited to look on the sunny side and hangout when it’s shady out.  Soak up the sun during our solar eclipse viewing party! Grab a free pair of special glasses to catch a glimpse of this phenomenon (while supplies last).

  • Solar Eclipse Live Stream:  Prefer indoors?  Watch the path during a livestream of the eclipse.
  • Big Sun, Small Moon:  Why the same size during an eclipse? Explore more at EcoStation.
  • Moon Craters:  Investigate how craters form on the moon in Science Station.
  • Pinhole Viewer and Postcard:  Make a pinhole projector postcard to track the eclipse’s path and safely see it through the hole in the center of the card at Science Station.

  • Mad Science:  Join mad scientist Bob Botto from the American Chemical Society of Greater Houston as he performs mind-blowing healing experiments in celebration of National Chemistry Week (Oct. 15 to 21) from10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Kid’s Hall.
  • Haunted House:  Don’t go to a haunted house; make one instead during a wicked diorama workshop.  Signup at the top of each hour from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Alexander Art Academy.
  • Spooky Magic: Catch a spellbinding show as international man of mystery Jamie Salinas performs at 2 and 3 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.

MONSTER MASH BASH

Saturday, Oct. 28, beginning at 10 a.m.

  • Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice:  Summon DJ Beetlejuice for a Halloween throwdown of epic proportions. Dance to some fangtastic music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kid’s Hall Alcove.
  • Make-a-Monster:  Bring monsters to live during a wicked workshop, then take them home.  Sign up at the top of each hour from 11:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Alexander Art Academy.
  • Owl Pellet Dissections:  Poke around an owl’s regurgitated food and explore what’s inside of it at 1, 2, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. in Power Science Lab.
  • Thriller Dance:  Zombies come back to liven things up. JDF Elite Dance Academy’s zombie troupe shows you how to do the Thriller dance at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.
