A new cultural arts program is launching at CMH. EastArts will build on the Museum's strong connections to Houston's arts community, and it will provide a unique opportunity for children to meet and learn from artists. This new initiative will feature 96 workshops that will focus on traditional art techniques spanning 12 East Asian countries.
Local artists will present the workshops, and elementary school art teachers will co-lead the sessions, providing additional support for children while gaining new knowledge to take back to their classrooms. To ensure access for everyone, 24 of the sessions will be presented on Free Family Nights, and the Museum will create videos about the design process so that families can explore East Asian art techniques at home. EastArts is generously underwritten by the Freeman Foundation.
