As Houston prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup, a vibrant new landmark now stands as a tribute to the creativity, innovation, and cultural richness which define our city.

Children's Museum Houston is honored to host a special FIFA World Cup mural celebrating the Houston Museum District and the extraordinary impact our institutions have on the millions of visitors we inspire each year. Created by acclaimed artist Elizabeth "Liz" Umanzor, the mural transforms the Museum's exterior into a colorful expression of imagination, discovery, science, art, culture, and exploration: the very qualities that make the Museum District one of Houston's most treasured destinations.

More than a work of art, the mural represents the collective spirit of the Houston Museum District. It reflects the power of our museums to educate, inspire, connect communities, and spark curiosity across generations. As international visitors arrive in Houston for one of the world's most celebrated sporting events, this installation serves as a welcoming symbol of the city's commitment to learning, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The mural also shines a spotlight on Houston's unique position as a global city, one where diverse perspectives, bold ideas, and transformative experiences come together every day through the work of our cultural institutions.

We invite our Museum District colleagues, supporters, visitors and Members to visit the mural and celebrate this exciting moment with us. As Houston takes center stage before a worldwide audience, this artwork stands as a proud reminder that the Houston Museum District is more than a collection of museums. It is a dynamic community of institutions working together to inspire wonder, enrich lives, and showcase the very best of our city.

Together, we are helping tell Houston's story to the world.
